window placement in double stud wall – GreenBuildingAdvisor

The drawing for my building shows the windows placed conventionally, i.e. “outtie”, resting directly above the outer stud wall. However, the outer stud wall is non-structural, sits on top of foam insulation, and is supported by cantilever (OSB gussets) to the inner, structural wall. Well, there’s also a 2×10 plate supporting both inner and outer wall. Wouldn’t it make more sense to install the windows as “innies”?
Pros: slightly better energy profile, better protection from rain, more structural support, don’t have to worry about a jamb extension (max size offered is only 7.625″)
Cons: no nailing fin to aid install, slightly narrower field of view
I was going to put flashing detail more complicated under cons, but I’m actually not sure that’s even the case.
