Hi all, looking to replace a tiled roof in CZ3b.
Currently there is a tile roof, un nailed over a felt underlayment. Most contractors want to use some type of peel and stick underlayment but many houses here have unvented cathedral ceilings, so they rely on the vapor permeability of the underlayment for any condensation buildup.
My concern with using felt again is that the new tiles will need to be nailed to the rood deck. Seems like it would be an issue if tiles broke or wind driven rain gets underneath the tiles.
What underlayment would be recommended for a tile roof that still needs to retain vapor permeability but not leak from the tile nails?
