Tile vs PVC/Vinyl – GreenBuildingAdvisor

I know this is the green building forum so the obvious answer is tile is a greener material. However in terms of indoor air quality, mold and maintenance free material is pvc/vinyl a better option or equal? I’m installing a new bathroom, pvc/vinyl would be less labor intensive but is it a risky install? The shower wall in my existing bathroom is porcelain tile and the grout lines are breaking down and need repair. I also have to wipe grime off as it builds over time. If tile is better 10 fold then I will tile it. If vinyl/pvc has the same performance or even better I will use the material that is easier to install. LVP flooring and pvc shower tiles would be an easier install. Is their a belt and suspenders approach to installing the vinyl/pvc by waterproofing subfloor and walls?
