Preventing termite passage behind slab perimeter insulation – GreenBuildingAdvisor

I don’t know of any solution other than a solid barrier that forces termites coming up behind the insulation out to the exterior. The metal shield should be thoroughly bedded in a mastic on the slab. Then it should extend out over the exterior insulation so that they are exposed. This won’t stop them. But by exposing the mud tubes they build they can then be seen and treated.
I don’t know of any system for preventing them from getting behind the insulation in the first place. If anyone has a detail for that I’d really like to see it.
Soil treatments are effective but I won’t rely solely on that.
