I have a lot of large trees, mostly pine, though I’m not an expert on trees. Unfortunately, some will need to be taken down to make room for my house. Don’t worry though—there are still plenty left.
It’s a shame to just chop them up and burn them for firewood, as I’m sure the wood would be beautiful.
Aside from using it for siding or interior paneling, does anyone have ideas for what else I can do with the lumber if I decide to cut it up? I’d love to use it for structural purposes, but I believe I’d need it to be graded. I’ll check with the building department, but I’m pretty sure they’ll tell me that if I want to use it in construction, I’ll need to have it graded.
has anyone had experience using their own lumber for building projects? Any thoughts or suggestions?
