I’m in south east Missouri on the border between mixed-humid and hot-humid in climate zone 4A.
I am planning a wall as follows from exterior to interior
Siding (undecided)>rain screen>taped Zip sheathing (air barrier)>2×6 cavity filled with EPS (density unknown)>1.75″ EPS continuous layer from footing to ceiling over studs>sheetrock
I am planning a full wraparound covered porch so all my exterior walls will be covered by a 12′ overhang.
I’m unsure if the EPS is a safe choice of insulation. It is my insulation of choice due to pricing (20% of retail) which makes it the cheapest by far. But I’m not willing to sacrifice durability for upfront savings.
