Good afternoon,
I have a project that upon closer inspection has revealed brick nogging the entire height of the balloon framed structure; from first floor to second floor top plate. The current plan is to not remove the nogging, cost, insulate the outside of the building with a continuous layer of 5 inches of Rockwool Comfortboard 80 and build a service wall inside the existing walls to facilitate easy electrical work. Am I getting myself in trouble, thinking about insulating those interior walls with another layer of vapor open insulation; i.e. Rockwool batts or cellulose? I think with 5 inches of exterior insulation the brick will stay plenty warm to not have a freeze thaw issue or condensation. I’m in climate zone 6A.
Thanks for any thoughts.
