Inspection Report Question: Floor Truss Wedge Use – GreenBuildingAdvisor

We just had an inspection and one of the items flagged was how our contractor used shims under the sill plate, which sits under the floor trusses (see attached picture). We have a reverse brick ledge for the trusses to sit on. The actual wall load doesn’t bear on this ledge but on the upper ledge. The inspector is saying that blocks or something more substantial than shims should be used in this location.
Our contractor is considering stacking metal plates instead. That raises a concern for us about whether condensation could become an issue where the metal contacts the treated sill plate. If that is something to worry about, would it make sense to use a protective barrier such as butyl tape between the top plate and the wood? Or are we just overthinking this. We are in Central Wisconsin. Thank you
