Fireplace- passive home – GreenBuildingAdvisor

hi all again

we are currently specifying a gas start/wood burning fireplace for the family room in a near passive home.

at the international builder show, spent some time with Renasaince, as it seems to seal well with the guillotine door and gasketing, along with dedicated intake supply air, and chimney damper.

problem is, the unit alone will be 15k.. and weight is approx 1000 lbs.

Id like to crowdsource this purchase with you all, in hopes of finding a solution which comes in under the Renasance rumford…

I know, fireplace is a penalty, but it is a must for this home…

any help from yalls experience would be insanely appreciated…thank you as always
