Previously it was generally accepted in America that many energy efficiency building strategies could reduce operating costs, but generally wouldn’t pay off quickly. So they have been considered more for their quality-of-life improvements, environmental benefits, and a way to invest upfront to keep operating costs relatively lower.
With the current geopolitical changes, has that analysis changed much? Are Americans now just beginning to experience the typical energy costs that Europeans have been dealing with for a while now? If so, could analysis from European dwellings be useful? Or are we in totally uncharted territory, where energy prices may reach or exceed historical highs, and are there any past works that address these scenarios in terms of energy efficiency building strategies?
