Egress window requirements – GreenBuildingAdvisor

Hey everyone need some help. I’m building an addition, on the plans I have casement windows that are on the second floor bedrooms. On the plans the windows are about 32”by 54”
Windows take about 8 weeks to order they have similar windows from another brand that are 30” by 48” that are cheaper and arrive in about a week. I asked the manufacturer and window guy but they can’t explain to be if the replacement window is egress or not. I’m in westchester county NY how do I tell if a window is egress compliant.

The requirements are found in the building code you are under where you are. They concern not just the window size, but its placement in the wall, and the hardware used to open it.
