DIY dense pack insulation 2×8 walls – GreenBuildingAdvisor

Owner builder here just wondering if it is feasible for me to DIY dense pack fiberglass or cellulose in my walls with a rental blower from the local building supply store designed for loose fill blow in. I’ve heard about folks reducing the hose to help with the psi to help pack the insulation denser. 

I’m wondering if using a reducer and a rental blower if it is reasonable for me to get good results in 2×8 walls 24OC, or I should just compress R30 batts that are too big into walls instead. The local insulation contractor here charges a fortune so anything I can do saves significant $.
