There is a stud our contractor ripped out on the inside for replacement. Since then, the walls have been insulated and vapor barrier applied. When walking the perimeter, I noticed where the board had been ripped out, the sheathing was cracked along the entire length of where the rip out occurred. This sheathing piece is connected to windows that have already been installed and due to the location of other studs would be extremely difficult to replace.
There are a lot of studs in this area so I’m not really concerned about structural support, more so the water rain barrier. To avoid putting a large amount of vapor closed zip tape over this, would it be possible to use SIGA tape to repair the water rain barrier as it’s breathable and sticks to this surface? I think one 6” wide piece of fentrim 430 about 8’ long would completely cover it.
