It has come to my attention that cleaning windows with a low-e coating is not standard. It seems metal reacts with the coating, so nothing metal should go anywhere near the glass… ok. But then it says to avoid using a squeegee, presumably because of the metal but also it says a squeegee won’t clean the surface because it’s rough with the coating?
I am concerned because I doubt anyone told our painters about this, so I’m sure they’ve been scraping away on the glass with a razor blade like anyone normally would on *uncoated* glass.
Now we need to clean all the windows and I want to make sure I don’t damage them. There are some spots with paint marks, how can I clean the paint off safely without damaging the coating???
Also, I intend to use a Karcher window vacuum. I guess it’s technically a squeegee but it uses suction and it seems to be safe for low e.
