Choosing kitchen faucet: water contamination less with Pex or metal alloys construction – GreenBuildingAdvisor

My concern is lead contamination vs plastic contamination in water going through a kitchen faucet. Delta faucets use core and shell construction, so that pex lines run from the valves (my hot and cold are compression fit copper lines) through the body of the metal shell to the tip of the spout. The water only touches plastic above the valves and no metal. Other major faucet manufacturers have braided supply lines (also with plastic in it) that then goes to the metal (brass, zinc, etc) faucet body and the water touches the metal. Major manufacturers follow NSF/ ANSI 61 standards. That allows .25% of lead in the metal. I am wondering if I should be concerned about either one at the health level for, say, washing vegetables. I do have a separate water filter for drinking water. From the spout there could be either lead at that small percentile or inevitable plastic particulates or outgassing from Pex. I assume factory chemicals will leach out over time. I have read a thread on GBA on Pex and different views about this. I, however, have no Pex plumbing lines yet. I am aware that plastic production is not good environmentally and when I say the factory chemicals “leach out”, that is not a good thing for the water or land. Another concern is the degrading of the plastic hoses in a faucet pull down hose, which my partner wants.
