Renewable energy developer Arevon Energy has signed three long-term agreements to sell renewable energy credits from its planned Panther solar project in Perry County, Illinois.
The contracts with Ameren Illinois, Commonwealth Edison and MidAmerican Energy each cover 20 years. The project will have 200 megawatts of alternating current capacity, according to Arevon.
Construction is expected to start in 2027, with completion anticipated in 2028. The company estimates the facility will generate electricity equivalent to the needs of more than 37,000 Illinois homes.
The agreements follow the project’s selection through an Illinois Power Agency procurement approved by the Illinois Commerce Commission. Panther was selected to supply 421,131 renewable energy credits during its first year, divided among the three utilities.
Arevon said the indexed credit agreements provide predictable revenue to support project development and financing. The utilities will use the credits toward meeting Illinois renewable energy requirements.
