Vantage Reserves More Than 1 Gigawatt of Heron Transformer Production for Data Centers
The Heron transformer changes grid power directly into 800-volt direct current for data center racks, with fewer steps that lose energy along the way, the companies said.

Vantage, a global digital infrastructure company, plans to use Heron Link solid-state transformers from Heron Power Electronics at its hyperscale data center campuses. The two companies announced the manufacturing capacity agreement Oct. 21.
Under the deal, Vantage has secured more than 1 gigawatt of Heron Link manufacturing capacity. The aim is to help AI and cloud customers set up high-density computing infrastructure faster, more efficiently and at larger scale, the companies said.
Heron Link changes medium-voltage power from the grid into 800-volt direct current (800 VDC). Its efficiency target for that step is above 98.5%, the companies said. Because there are fewer conversion stages, less energy is lost before power reaches the rack, they said.
Compared with standard 480-volt alternating current systems, the simpler design needs less floor space, equipment, installation labor and material, the companies said. Heron Link also has built-in energy storage. That storage evens out changing AI power loads and makes better use of grid assets, they said.
Drew Baglino, Heron’s founder and CEO, said the rollout with Vantage tops a gigawatt. He said the work will take 800 VDC beyond the reference architecture concept stage and make it a platform that is deployed and repeated.
