    Emel,

    Either are fine. Any moisture will be removed by diffusion through the drywall.

    I wouldn’t leave a gap. It will just accumulate debris and pests.

    Due to a host of environmental and health issues, I avoid PVC whenever I have an acceptable alternative.

    You don’t need to worry about moisture for either PVC or other materials in this application.

    Personally I’d go with the pine.
