Cold corners – GreenBuildingAdvisor

I’ve run into a situation that has me a little stumped. I have cold corners where the wall drywall meets the ceiling drywall in lot of places in this house. What seems weird to me in trying to diagnose whether the problem is air sealing or just lack of insulation where the roof pinches it down to where there is little to no room for insulation. What I can’t seem to figure out is that the corners seem about the same temperature, whether after they are in an exterior corner where the roof line comes down in pinches insulation or whether they are an exterior corner where the roof line is higher up in that area.
Is this the proof that it is, in fact, an air sealing issue rather than a lack of insulation issue? But if it is an air sealing issue, shouldn’t the areas with plenty of room for insulation be at least a little bit warmer? If not, what good is the insulation The one corner has R48 above and the other has at most roof for R 13
Thanks,
Steve
