We just remodeled our home last year. New windows, doors, siding some insulation and turned our attic into conditioned space. We originally had electric baseboard heat when we moved in but immediately converted to geo thermal. The house is all electric. We also have solar panels on our barn that are connected to our house.
Since we had all of this work done, and are now in the middle of a deep freeze, are windows have condensation and ice build up on them. They are double hung Anderson 400 series windows. The buildup of moister is mainly where the two rails meet as well as on the bottom rail.
Our relative humidity has been running 40 – 48% since the house was remodeled. These levels were no where near that percentage before the house was buttoned up. As a matter of fact we would usually have the furnace humidifier on. To reduce the relative humidity we have been running our portable dehumidifier to bring the RH levels down and it is helping. We would prefer another method to do this job but we aren’t sure what direction to take it.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for you considering helping with our moisture issue.
