Best supplemental heat for extreme cold – GreenBuildingAdvisor

We just built our passive house in Northern Wisconsin. It is ICF construction with a Carrier mini split system. This is our first winter here and January has brought a couple weeks of extreme cold temperatures as low as -49 C (real feel). Our mini splits struggle and seem not to be able to handle below -15. We’ve had several days and nights below this. I’m looking for recommendations for heating sources for these extreme days.
