I am building a garage with an office for my own use here in Greenville, SC. (plans attached) Here are a few details. I’m planning on zip sheathing, furring strips for a rainscreen, and then LP Smartside either lap or panel siding. I will also be installing river rock or similar within 2″ of wall edges that don’t already have a concrete slab.
One question is how to seal the sheathing to slab? Fastening the sheathing with a small gap and sealing with Zip liquid flash was my current plan.
Also, we already poured the slab, and because of the slope on the lot we are barely 2″ above finish grade. LP wants at least 6″ above grade for their siding. I’ve considered a 4″ PVC trim board at the bottom, exposed metal flashing etc. I don’t want to overthink it because even on the back side, there are large overhangs.
Thanks in advance!
