Good afternoon,
I’m trying to lock in my insulation plan on my renovation. The building an old post and beam structure with a full dormer framed on one eve wall. I was thinking rock wool in the cavities. All batts will be against the roof interior sheathing. The attic space will have an ERV return duct.
-4” rigid foam R 22 above roof deck (already installed)
-R23 on the beam side
-R30+ on the 2×10 dormer side
I had an insulation company quote the install. They recommended closed cell R30 on all rafter bays. Would I be create rot risk by encapsulating my sheathing rigid foam exterior/closed cell interior?
On the exterior walls I installed R10 xps and a rain screen. Can I insulate with rockwool R23 and poly or would this create moisture issues? Smart membrane instead venting to the interior?
This forum is awesome! Thank you for all the content and advice. I can add more context it if needed.
