Venting an unvented assembly – Zone 3b – GreenBuildingAdvisor

Hi All,
Currently remodeling / redesigning an unvented assembly that had water intrusion issues (leaky roof, and / or incorrect insulation).
One end of the roof (4:12 pitch) ends outside in closed soffits, while the other end of the cathedral ends in the interior of the house (over a kitchen) where it meets a small vented attic space.
Based on this layout, seems there is no possibility of making this a vented assembly? The side that finishes on the exterior seems possible, but venting the side that ends over the kitchen would only draw (conditioned and / or humid) air from inside the house. And a “half vented” assembly with the exterior side being vented, and the interior side being unvented just doesn’t seem to compute. Is my only option here to keep things unvented?
Thanks in advance~
