I’m getting ready to start the electrical on my new workshop. I have plans of adding solar panels to the roof, and want to make sure my electrical system is solar ready. We are not allowed to grid tie here, so I need to have an automatic transfer switch. I assume I also need at least some batteries, a charge controller and inverter, so that it’s not switching back and forth every time a cloud goes by.
Any recommendations for a transfer switch?
What’s a reasonable amount of battery capacity? I’m not expecting to use this as backup power, just enough to allow continuous operation on a partly sunny day.
Anything else I’m missing?
