Drip strip and rain water – GreenBuildingAdvisor

hello , I have a drip strip square area of dirt in between garage driveway and front door entry sidewalk . This area is  letting  water go under my house . Is there any purpose I should not fill it ? Or other solutions ?  And any tips on how to prepare for concrete so I don’t mess anything up . I plan to add expansion joints where it meets driveway and sidewalk.  .add a little fill dirt and crushed stone before concrete . . I had decorative rocks in it but considering filling it with concrete. I’m in zone 2 , hot humid climate and surrounding soil looks  like clay and silt .
